Dr. Hector Estepan, MD is a board-certified pulmonologist in Lenoir, North Carolina. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and New York. He is affiliated with Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

Doctor Estepan was born in the Dominican Republic and relocated with his family at the age of 9 to Brooklyn, New York. He attended the New York City public schools and ultimately graduated from Stuyvesant High School class of 1961. Hector went unto Brooklyn College, and ultimately graduated from City College in 1965 and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He then went on to work for the Bendix Corporation and was a part of the team which
worked on the Apollo space mission. Hector completed his master’s in electrical engineering at the New York University
in 1970.

Ever inspired, Hector took night classes to meet the science requirements for medical school and entered Cornell Medical college , graduating in 1976. Dr. Estepan completed his residency at Harlem Hospital and was chief resident from 1979-1980. He went on to complete a pulmonary research fellowship at New York Hospital. Dr Estepan also led the tuberculosis clinic at Lincoln Hospital from 1983-1984. He became an attending physician at Our lady of Mercy Hospital in the Bronx from 1984-1990 where he ran the hospital’s residency program and clinic. Dr. Estepan served as an assistant professor of medicine at New York Medical College and a member of the Board of Directors for Jamaica Hospital.
As a Board-Certified physician in Internal Medicine he practiced in the Bronx for 25 years before moving onto North Carolina.
