HISTORY OF GIVING

Lowell F Hawthorne through Golden Krust did not only assist students in the United States but also provided scholarships to outstanding students at Kingston College and his Alma Mater – Oberlin High School, St. Andrew Jamaica. In 2010 he signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of the West Indies, to the tune of US$100,000 which is being disbursed over a period of eight years to undergraduate students pursuing the Social Sciences. The Lowell F. Hawthorne Foundation will be a catalyst for the advancement of education for years to come.

ADVANCING EDUCATION

The Lowell F. Hawthorne Foundation (LFHF) was established in 2018 to develop endowment funds to outstanding students in high schools, universities and educational institutions in the United States and the Caribbean.
The foundation remains committed to focusing on education, which is consistent with the interest and vision of the late Lowell Hawthorne.
The late Lowell Hawthorne, founder and former President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery, who would often be heard reciting “A positive community is everybody’s business, and a mind is a terrible thing to waste.”
The board is committed to ensuring his vision to support educational institutions and to educate the youth is realized.
